is a collaborative project with artist Fábio Araújo.
The project startes with a peformance, inspired by the military movements during the Siege of Porto. It was concieved between David Lopes and Fábio Araújo, where the performer would revisi the former lines of defence of the Miguelist and Liberal troops.
Wearing a military uniform and carrying a metal backpack-like structure, the performer transported a section of a
19th-century drawing from João Baptista Ribeiro, where one can read “bomba” (bomb).
The group of artworks proposes a dialogue on dualities: the urban Porto in times of peace and conflict; the current transformation of former strategic defence lines; and the image of the cloud versus the drawing of the bomb.
These prompt us to consider human vulnerability in times of war and the power of art to bring memories of the past into the present.
